On July 17th, 1717 Handel's Water Music was premiered on a barge sailing down the River Thames for the entertainment of King George I, who like Handel was a German immigrant.
Händel was born in this house in Halle, Germany. His childhood home is now a fine museum with a magnificent collection of musical instruments and scores.
